Birthday

Birthday is just a date to commemorate the passing of yet another year of your life. At a young age it marks the growth of one into the adulthood but when you reach twenties does it really matter so much anymore? Maybe not, so what is so special about the day? The special thing about it is, it is a day you can call your own.

I believe everyone wants to be acknowledged, wants to be cared and loved by people. Everyone wants to be special and on your own day you would like to feel special as well. This is where birthday celebrations come into play. Where people show that they care about you and you can enjoy being surrounded by them.

Few days before my birthday, my secondary school buddies did a 3 people joined celebration. I would like to say thank you to all of them. They are one of those who have gone through a lot with me and I can’t imagine if even they don’t care.

On my birthday itself, my university course mates came down to SS2 from KL to celebrate my birthday. I may not seem so and I may not have said it but I’m really happy you all did so. You all are real buddies through these few years in our university years. I’m really thankful for you all especially the drivers who didn’t mind driving all the way down.

That night itself my heng dai in Canada messaged me to wish me. Makes me think back how much we’ve been through together. We had our arguments and disagreements but we remain as bros through everythings.

The Saturday after my birthday passed, my girlfriend planned a surprise celebration for me with help from my “little sister”. Even though there were many fail moments of me bumping into people and table arrangement matter all and it became quite obvious but I’m really glad so many people came for me and the effort my girlfriend and “sister” put in. What everyone may not know is I was holding back my tears. They were lodging at my eyes, just that I didn’t let it flow out.

Then to everyone who wished my whether by sms, facebook, whatsapp or face to face, I might not know how to react to it but it gives me positivity and I thank you for that.

Last but not least, my family. My grandmother, aunty and parents who gave me angpow to let me spend and enjoy I really thank you all. I know we may not express it so openly but I know we all love each other. I know I never say it but I’m really glad I have such a great family and I love you all.

Care, something we all need.
